AUDIO
SMD Technical supply sound systems for every type and size of function. We try and spec the most economical sound system to suite the size and type of function, taking into consideration the size of the venue, amount of guests and the amount of power available at the venue. From large bands like Freshly Ground and Johnny Clegg to smaller backing track artists, weddings and exhibition stands to yachts & boats we will supply a sound system to suite.
LIGHTING
SMD Technical supply generic lighting as well as intelligent lights for any size function. We are able to assist and advise which lighting best suites a specific function and we are able to save clients money as certain looks can be created using conventional methods and not the latest technology available. From convention generic parcans, profile spots, multipars, followspots to moving intelligent wash and spot lamps SMD Technical can supply.
In many cases SMD have designed and built their own products to save on power and keep a green earth initiative but not compromising the end result. By saving power and using these unique products we save clients money as they are able to use smaller generators and thus less diesel is required for the duration of a function. SMD are also a leading supplier of chandeliers, fairy lights and fairy light curtains for the wedding industry.
LASER SHOWS
SMD have supplied many awe inspiring laser shows to New Years Eve functions and other big launches and celebrations over the past years. Right from the full colour laser flanked with two green lasers producing a fantastic three source show to the simple air cooled green lasers for smaller function, this lighting effect is unequalled and really adds that last element of class to an event.
VISUALS
SMD are now able to supply all visual related products from video projectors, projection screens, plasma screens and related switching equipment. SMD has Wii gaming consoles for hire which is proving ever popular in the corporate events and team building functions.
GENERATORS & POWER DISTRIBUTION
Power is always in short supply in most venues. SMD supplies silent running generators of the highest quality from 7kva to 500Kva machines at very competitive daily rates. SMD also supplies all power distribution and cabling for the function technical requirements as well as temporary kitchens. All generators and temporary power distribution is tested and receive a Certificate of Compliance as per the Health and Safety law.
SMD now supply a unique renewable energy option with solar batteries and invertors for smaller functions in remote locations where there is no power.
STAGING
SMD stock a range of aluminium staging podiums to suite most medium sized events. The podiums are metric in size measuring 2m x 1m. Various height legs at 0.25m, 0.3m, 0.5m are available with sets of access stairs. SMD also now stock quarter round podiums to create rounded corners on traditionally square stages, half round fronts and small round stages of 2m and 3m diameter. Podium finishes in painted black, white ABS or carpeting are available.
DANCE FLOORS
SMD stock the imported Tempolite “click system” of toughened plastic dance floors available in black, white, black and white checker as well as “parquet” wood finish. The above floors do require a solid level surface for placement. SMD supply ply decking board as a level base solution should the chosen surface be grass or an uneven surface.
MOTORS
SMD stock a selection of 14 chainmaster 0.5 ton rigging hoists and a 6 way controller available to the hire market.
MUSIC SERVICES
SMD's sister company TRIPLE M Music, under the direction of Martin Myers supplies DJ's for selective upmarket events and weddings, as well as Music operators for fashion events. TRIPLE M Music specialise in compiling music for fashion events and specific designers ranges all from the city based studio. Music pieces are carefully selected and then cut, spliced, sometimes overlayed and re-worked to suite the situation.
